KUCHING: A local man was sentenced to two months imprisonment and fined him RM1,000 for punching and slapping his former wife in the face.
Nurrahmadi Mohamad, 26, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali yesterday (March 22).
According to the charge, he intentionally injured the 24-year-old victim at a supermarket in BDC, at around 11.45am on March 17.
The Magistrate ordered him to serve one month in prison if he failed to pay the fine.
According to the facts of the case, on March 17, at around 11.30am the woman received a call from him saying that he wanted to take their son who was under her care.
But she did not allow him to take their child because he had never provided child support since their divorce.
On the same day, at around 11.45 am, he came to the supermarket and punched and slapped her face as a result of which she sustained an injury to her left eye.
It is understood that he was upset after she had threatened to go viral on social media about him not paying child support.
A police report led to Nurrahmadi’s arrest at a house in Jalan Stutong, on March 18. The prosecution of the case was handled by Prosecuting Officer Inspector Mohd Adzmei Ahmad.
