MIRI: An assistant lorry driver endured pain for several minutes before being rescued after he was being pinned inside the vehicle following an accident at Kilometre 64 Miri-Bintulu Road, nearby Sungai Saeh’s junction yesterday afternoon.
Fortunately he and the lorry driver sustained light injuries in the 12.53pm incident.
Prior to the crash, the lorry laden with hospital linen items were heading towards Bintulu from Miri.
Upon approaching the scene, the vehicle suddenly went out off control and crashed onto a steel pole by the roadside.
Due to the incident, the front part of the vehicle was badly damaged.
The injured driver and his assistant driver were immediately taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Seven firemen from Miri Fire and Rescue Department were deployed to the scene after they received an alert on the incident.
