BETONG: The effort by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) to bring about change in business towards digitalisation is important for the development of entrepreneurs, especially in rural areas.

The agency’s deputy director -general (Entrepreneurship) Datuk Zulfikri Osman said the Point of Sale (POS) system implemented would be able to monitor the data of the products most frequently purchased by customers.

“In addition, the use of the QR code scanning is also implemented to make it easier for customers to monitor the food menu sold by the store. That is important.

“Therefore, MARA is always behind the entrepreneurs to help develop their businesses as well churn out entrepreneurs in this field.

“This is our focus in line with MARA’s duties as a government agency under the Ministry of Rural Development,” he said in an interview by Suara Sarawak/New Sarawak Tribune at Fazzah’s Kitchen, here, on Thursday (June 30).

He said his agency was working closely with non-governmental organisations, government agencies and entrepreneurs to jointly develop their businesses.

Therefore, he said, those involved in such activities should contact MARA for assistance in the form of grants.

“Not only those in the food and beverage (F&B) sector but also other sectors such as boutiques and building industry.

“No more than RM500,000 has been channelled to five entrepreneurs in different sectors (on June 30) ,” he said.

Meanwhile, MARA also presented cheques and school bags to 15 students from the MARA Junior Science College.
