KUCHING: It’s time for hawkers and workers to mask up again!

The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) has ordered all hawkers and workers within its markets or hawker centres wear face masks while on these premises.

“Referring to the notice issued by the council on April 29, 2022, all hawkers and their workers are reminded to wear face masks at all times while at the market or hawker centres.

“This is to safeguard us as well as the customers due to the current condition of COVID-19 cases.

“Your kind cooperation and compliance with this matter is very much appreciated,” said the notice, which was shared via the MBKS Mayor’s WhatsApp group today (Dec 18).

Meanwhile, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad, in a press conference today (Nov 18), stated that the number of COVID-19 cases had increased by 62.2 per cent to 20,696 between Dec 10 and Dec 16.

He mentioned that 97 per cent of these cases had shown mild symptoms and did not require hospitalisation.
