KUALA LUMPUR: Telecommunications company Maxis has partnered with the Ex-Servicemen Affairs Corporation (PERHEBAT) to offer a series of digital marketing workshops to benefit retiring and retired personnel of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM).

The initiative, part of Maxis’ eKelas Usahawan flagship community programme, aims to equip participants with essential digital marketing skills to enhance their employability and marketability in the civilian workforce.

Over a series of six workshops, the first batch of 725 participants received training in digital marketing fundamentals and practical skills, covering areas such as digital marketing strategy, photography, graphic design, copywriting and campaign planning.

PERHEBAT acting director-general Captain (Rtd) Mohd Radzi Mohd Ali from RMAF expressed enthusiasm about enriching their Resettlement Training programme and emphasised the importance of digitalisation in preparing ATM personnel for integration into civilian workforce.

“We are happy to be working with Maxis to enrich our Resettlement Training programme or Program Latihan Peralihan, for retiring and retired ATM personnel. This reflects our dedication to providing a wide range of skills to our members, now including digitalisation.

Meanwhile, Maxis’ chief corporate affairs officer, Mariam Bevi Batcha, highlighted the company’s commitment to building a digitally inclusive society through programmes like eKelas Usahawan.

She underscored the significance of leveraging technology to empower communities, including retiring and retired ATM personnel.

PERHEBAT serves as an enabler for the second career of ATM’s retired personnel, providing them with necessary training to develop technical, vocational and entrepreneurial skills to facilitate their transition to civilian life.

Workshop participants commended the practical focus of the training, with many expressing newfound confidence in starting or expanding their businesses online.

Mohammad Hazrul Hisham Zahari from Kelantan shared his increased confidence in venturing into online business, while Mohammad Ashabul Yameen and Vashanthakumari Suppiah expressed eagerness to apply their new digital skills to enhance their respective businesses.
