KUCHING: Due to the worsening haze, Kuching South City Council (MBKS) has taken the initiative to distribute 2,000 face masks to market vendors under its jurisdiction.

MKBS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng and his councillors spent an hour at the Petanak Market here yesterday, meeting and advising vendors to use the N95 face mask.

Face masks were also given to members of the public who visited the market.

“This is part of our responsibility to ensure the people’s health is taken care of,” he told reporters when met after a meet-and-greet session with the people at the market.

He also took the opportunity to remind members of the public to cut down on outdoor activities and drink more water.

“For organisations, please reschedule outdoor activities to venues indoors or postpone it,” he advised.

MBKS has distributed face masks at Bintawa Market, Kenyalang Market, Stutong Community Market and Hui Sing Hawker Centre.
