KUCHING: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) has formed the ‘MBKS Disaster Committee’ to aid and support the public in potential disaster situations.
Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said MBKS councillors will be assigned to oversee specific zones, with their contact numbers made readily available to the public for easy access.
“With the recent rainy season and the possibility of other disasters, the establishment of the disaster committee has been endorsed by the council,” he stated during a press conference at the MBKS Council Chambers on Monday (Jan 29).
“The contact numbers of the designated councillors will be published to facilitate prompt communication with residents regarding any disaster occurrences.
“This is one of the council’s initiatives to improve the quality of life for residents in the Kuching South area,” Wee added.
