MBKS Mayor pays up compound, admits mistake

KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng compounded by the council traffic warden recently, in which paid up and admitted his wrongdoing.

In his social media post, Wee said a complaint was raised by Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong regarding Wee’s official vehicle which was parked along the roadside ignoring the yellow lines.

“Upon thorough investigation, l have found myself to be at fault in this situation. I sincerely apologise for my oversight and any inconvenience it might have caused.

“The council had issued the compound fee and l had promptly paid the necessary fee. I will also ensure that such mistakes do not recur in the future,” he said.

He said that as a mayor, it is his responsibility to lead by example and adhere to the laws that govern the community.

“I firmly believe that no one is above the law, and I am committed to upholding this principle.

“I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Yong for her diligence in ensuring compliance with traffic regulations.
