MCC gets tough with local hawkers

MCC enforcement personnel impound goods that are illegally displayed at the five-ways in Tamu Muhibbah Miri.

MIRI:  Miri City Council (MCC) enforcement personnel seized various goods from three local hawkers during a by-law enforcement operation in Tamu Muhibbah on yesterday morning.

MCC in a statement said, these hawkers were obstructing the movement of pedestrians on the five-foot ways and the flow of traffic.

The two-hour operation kicked off at 8.30 am, consisting of 30 MCC enforcement personnel and two policemen.

During the operation, officers came across these hawkers displaying their goods on the five-foot ways and occupying parking spaces around the area.

Their goods were impounded on the spot and brought to MCC’s depot in Bakam.
Claimants can collect their seized goods after they pay the fine.
