KUCHING: The completion of Meritam-Telahak-Buangabai road project (Phase 4) has shortened the distance from Meritam to Limbang by 13 kilometers.

The Public Works Department (PWD) said the travel time also has been shortened by 15 minutes.

“This project was approved as part of the 11th Malaysia Plan and was completed on December 28, 2022. Sarawak PWD served as the implementing agency, and the Ministry of Rural Development (KPLB) was the project client,” the department stated in a Facebook post.

According to PWD, the project is a continuation of the Jalan Meritam Phase 1, 2 and 3 projects.

“This project has a length of 9.55 kilometers and a width of 6 meters. It has been designed as a single carriageway, adhering to PWD R.C. Standard, and with a lifespan of 10 years.”

“The construction scope also includes two bridges: the 60-meter-long Sungai Berawan bridge and the 7.5-meter-long Sungai Lubai bridge,” PWD added.

The road construction plan was designed by Sarawak PWD project team, while the Limbang Divisional Engineer served as the project officer, and the Limbang Divisional Deputy Engineer (Development) acted as the project manager.
