SERIAN: A mini stadium is being constructed in Balai Ringin and expected to be completed next year.

According to Youth and Sports Assistant Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan, the stadium will have facilities catering to the needs of the locals, especially the youth, to hold various sports activities and social programmes.

The mini stadium will have running tracks, a football field, futsal court, sepak takraw and badminton courts as well as a hall that can accommodate 1,500 people.

“The stadium will also have a rock climbing wall for those who love extreme sports and a grand stand that can seat up to 800 people.

“Aside from that, the mini stadium will have rooms for various programme or activities such as Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes for the youth,” he said.

Snowdan said this when officiating at a fitness programme ‘A Healthy and Fit Lifestyle’ at Balai Ringin Depot, yesterday (Oct 30).

He expressed his gratitude to the state government for approving the construction of the mini stadium costing RM15 million.

“The stadium will facilitate schools in Balai Ringin area to have their annual sport day and they do not need to go far as there will be enough facilities there.

“Other than that, this stadium can be a centre to seek new sport talents to represent Sarawak and Malaysia at national and international competitions,” he said.
