KUCHING: Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Intergrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip blamed a Facebook posting for causing the confusion pertaining to his statement on the composition of the State Civil Service.

The Facebook posting has misquoted my statement which was published by a news portal, he said when asked to respond to a move by the Dayak Round Table (DRT) Movement and DAP Sri Aman challenging him to a live debate on the matter.

Replying to questions sent to him via whatsapp message, Talib said:  The news portal concerned was reporting about my comments to a question on meritocracy in the State Civil Service.

He said his response was as such because he believed that was the practice, whereby all races were represented in the state civil service.

Sadly, my statement (as published in the news portal) was ‘twisted’ by the Facebook posting.  The twisting is unfortunate. It causes misunderstanding… (but) let’s hope reason will prevail,  he added.
