Ministry urges corporate participation in programmes

SERIAN: The Ministry of Women, Children and Community Well-being Development welcomes the participation of corporate bodies in various welfare programmes.

“Among them is participating in the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) initiative so that more benefits can be offered and expanded to all parts of Sarawak to be enjoyed by everyone,” said its Deputy Minister Mohamad Razi Sitam at the Majlis Sejambak Kasih Aidilfitri 2022 held in Kampung Hulu, here yesterday.

Commenting on the programme, Razi said it was an annual activity held four times a year during the Hari Raya, Hari Gawai, Deepavali and Christmas Day celebrations.

“The main purpose is to help in improving the quality of life and cheer up families who are less fortunate to celebrate the upcoming festival.

“For your information, for Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the Sarawak government has provided an allocation of RM1,531,500 in contributions to 15,315 recipients.

“In the Serian division, there are 314 recipients, accounting for a total of RM31,400,” he explained.

Razi said a total of 70 recipients who were present received RM100 along with hampers worth RM80 and those who were not present would get the contribution credited in their respective bank account.

Meanwhile, the Samarahan division saw a total of 2,338 recipients at a ceremony which was also held yesterday.

Also present was Sarawak Social Welfare Department Director Noriah Ahmad.
