BINTULU: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs will ensure that all appointed transporters of items such as LPG cylinder, cooking oil, flour, rice, diesel and RON95 deliver these to folks in the rural areas according to their contract terms.

Speaking to reporters during an inspection with officers of the ministry at the Point of Sales (POS) nearby Kuala Tatau area here yesterday, its deputy minister Chong Chieng Jen said this directive to the transporters was to ensure rural folks enjoy the subsidies.

He said the government had allocated RM140 million for the price standardisation programme to subsidise the transportation cost.

“RM80 million is meant for Sarawak under this programme,” he added.
