Minos with MPKS CRS after opening the corporate etiquette and communication workshop

KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Kota Samarahan Municipal Council’s Community and Recreational Services staff have been urged to demonstrate dedication, discipline, and focus in fulfilling their roles and responsibilities to meet community expectations.

In a statement, the council’s chairman, Datuk Peter Minos, emphasised the need for them to approach their work with utmost seriousness and commitment, incorporating discipline, focus and initiative at all times.

“Our priority is to create a safe, clean and green environment, and this can only be achieved by maintaining high standards,” said Minos.

He also stressed the importance of going the extra mile and striving for excellence, whether it be in statutory tasks such as desludging, scavenging, street cleaning and drain cleaning, or undertaking physical development projects.

Anything less than the utmost effort would be considered unacceptable, he said during a corporate etiquette and communication workshop conducted by Asean Master Trainer, Dr. Fluorine Christie,

Acknowledging the reliance on external contractors for various works, including those carried out by MPKS, Minos stressed the need for constant monitoring, physical verification, and discipline in managing contractors.

He pointed out that negligence or a lack of commitment from contractors is not acceptable to the public, who as ratepayers expect high-quality service.

He emphasised the importance of completing the six major projects, worth millions of ringgit and implemented on behalf of the Integrated Regional Samarahan Development Authority (IRSDA).

Additionally, MPKS is encouraged to intervene when necessary in major development projects conducted by other agencies, especially when complications or difficulties arise.

“Thanks to the collaborative efforts of MPKS, Public Works Department and the relevant ministry, we have successfully resolved issues related to installing five traffic lights along the Kuching-Samarahan expressway.

These interventions aim to address the wishes and concerns expressed by the people of Samarahan and ensure their best interests are served, he said.
