Miri ratepayers advised to pay online to avoid queues

MIRI: Ratepayers in Miri Division have been reminded to pay their assessment rates bills in advance to avoid long queues at payment counters and unnecessary physical contact at crowded places.

Mayor Adam Yii advised ratepayers to pay their bills online through the Sarawak Pay app or other online payment apps.

The last date for payment of the rates for the second half for this year is Oct 31.

In a Miri City Council (MCC) online meeting on Monday (Sept 27), he also congratulated his deputy Cr Julaihi Mohamad for being conferred the Johan Bintang Kenyalang (JBK) state award, MCC secretary Morshidi Fredrick for being conferred the Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang (PBK) award, two councillors and four other MCC officials for receiving state honours and medals from Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud during a ceremony on Sept 22.

Other recipients were MCC treasurer Siti Suhana Rosli (Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti – Silver), MCC Tourism Development chairperson Cr Warziedea Ahmad (Ahli Bintang Sarawak), Cr Romulus Charles Agan Raja (Ahli Bintang Sarawak), Environmental Health assistant officer Jau Wan @ Harris Jau Wan (Ahli Bintang Sarawak), Operations (Engineering Department) assistant Elizabeth Oyou (Bentara Bintang Sarawak) and Public Health assistant Muyang Kilat (Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji – Bronze).

Yii also congratulated MCC, Morshidi and his team for receiving the Gold Award at the 9th Sarawak Chief Minister’s Environmental Award 2019/2020 under the Local Authority (City Council) category on Sept 13.

Another MCC team, Sirius Prime, also won the Gold Award in the Best Video Presentation category for a project titled ‘Kesukaran Mengutip Cukai Taksiran Tahunan Tertunggak’ at the Regional Innovation Showcase on Team Excellence on Sept 21.
