MIRI: Miri has recorded a total of 66 crime cases for the first four months this year since January, a decrease of 33 per cent or 33 cases compared to the corresponding period in 2022.

City police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the decline in crime index was the result of their commitment and numerous efforts in preventing crime related activities including drug-related and illegal gambling.

Speaking at the Miri police monthly gathering held at its headquarters here yesterday morning, he added, a total of 389 arrests were also made from January to April, an increase of 62.7 per cent or 239 cases from the same period last year.

Also present during the monthly gathering was his deputy Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol.

At the gathering, Alexson also performed the rank-pinning ceremony to 32 policemen and policewomen from various departments.
