MIRI: Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang is encouraging the public here to download an app belonging to Sarawak Smart City from App Store, Google Play Store and Huawei AppGallery that allows feedback and suggestions on Miri City Council’s (MCC) services.

During a MCC online meeting on Monday (Aug 30), Yii explained that it was a software solution containing relevant information, particularly Miri CARES, designed for the public here to bring up matters or even lodge complaints for MCC’s attention.

“The Miri Smart City Proof of Concept (POC) was previously initiated in line with the state’s Digital Economy initiative.”

Under Miri Smart City POC, there are nine applications — Smart Truck, Smart Bus, Smart Drain, Miri Tourism, Miri CARES, Safe City & Safe Park, eLA2, Digital Signage and Command Centre.

The Smart Drain application, for instance, was designed as an alert system that allowed the monitoring of current water level, especially in residential areas.

The Smart Bus application allows the public to view the current location of buses, number of seats available and to pay the bus fares using SarawakPay.

The Smart Truck app was designed to improve waste management service.

It allows the public within a specified zone to find out the schedule of garbage collection and the estimated time of arrival of the garbage truck.

As for the Miri Tourism app, it allows folks to publish social events happening in and around Miri, and also allows tourists to find out about places of interests, accommodation, favourite food outlets, handicraft centres and souvenir shops, among others.

Meanwhile, the Miri CARES app is a Case Tracking System (CTS) with features for handling complaints and requests directed to the Miri Smart City Command Centre.

It is designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of case-monitoring from the time of a case is being reported until it is being solved by MCC’s service providers.

The Miri Smart City Command Centre operates 24 hours a day and can be reached at hotline 085-424 600 or WhatsApp number 019-214 4600 or email mscc@miricouncil.gov.my

To access Miri CARES, the public are required to register with Sarawak ID and log in to Sarawak Smart City.

“Other physical solution components of the Miri Smart City such as digital signage, visual surveillance, face recognition and vehicle tracking under Safe City and Safe Park, are technologies deployed for benefits of the public.

“We hope that Mirians can access and download the above apps for closer rapport with Miri City Council.”
