MIRI: A 33-year-old man from Desa Senadin here, who had been missing since Thursday night, was found dead in a drain approximately 1.5km from the Fire and Rescue’s Search and Rescue (SAR) base.
The body was discovered at 9 am today.
The Fire and Rescue Department reported that the deceased, Hafizan Sawal, was found by family members who were assisting in the search. Firemen were on the scene to help retrieve Hafizan’s body.
The police is investigating the case.
He was last seen by his wife on Thursday. A nearby CCTV captured an image of Hafizan walking past a neighbour’s house around 10.48 pm that night, dressed only in shorts.
Alarmed by his absence, his wife filed a police report. Firemen from Lutong fire station were mobilised for the search last night, focusing on the nearby forest and an old cemetery near Hafizan’s home. Despite their efforts, it was only this morning that Hafizan’s body was found in the drain.
