KUCHING: A 50-year-old former soldier who went missing in a jungle area near Taman Perpaduan (formerly known as Reservoir Park), has been discovered by rescuers.

The lifeless body of the victim, identified as Kamarau Adong, was found around 10am today (Oct 14).

Reports by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the breakthrough came when a police drone, engaged in aerial reconnaissance, spotted Kamarau’s body just a few metres away from Jalan Ong Kee Hui.

“The search effort today was primarily concentrated on the third sector, a wooded region along Jalan Taman Budaya.

“Adding to the operation, Bomba’s K9 unit, with the assistance of Daisy, the sniffer dog, joined the search.

“Medical professionals from Sarawak General Hospital, on-site, unfortunately declared Kamarau deceased at the scene. Subsequently, his remains were handed over to the police for transportation to the hospital’s Forensics Department for further proceedings,” it said.

At the location, individuals from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Civil Defence Force, and a K9 unit were on-site.
