TANJUNG MANIS: A 55-year-old man reported missing after failing to return home on Monday, was found dead today.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said Affendi Morshidi was found by rescuers around 11.40 am.
The victim was discovered unconscious about 1km from the main road and the search control post.
However, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and his body was handed over to the police for further action.
Following the tragic finding, the search and rescue (SAR) operation ended at 12.15 pm.
Yesterday, Affendi from Kampung Jerijeh Baru, was said to have gone into the forest alone near Jalan Airport to gather firewood around 11 am.
Realising that he did not return home, his family conducted a search. They found the victim’s motorcycle by the roadside which prompted the family to lodge a missing person’s report around 6.50 pm.
