Moderate earthquake strikes Minahassa Peninsula, Sulawesi

KUCHING: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has reported a moderate earthquake in the Minahassa Peninsula, Sulawesi, this morning (Jun 11).

The earthquake occurred at 9.42am, registering a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 120 kilometers, precisely at coordinates 0.1 degrees north and 123.0 degrees east. It was situated approximately 45 kilometers south of Gorontalo, Indonesia.

There is no immediate tsunami threat posed to Malaysia following this moderate earthquake, ensuring the safety of the coastal regions.
