KUCHING:  Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep plans to bring in and organise more activities that can attract more visitors to Bau.

This move is to help create a vibrant Bau which would indirectly contribute towards providing ample economic opportunities for the local business community.

He said so far, he had introduced many such activities but more would be required to further boost economic development and their spin-off effects for the benefit of the local community.

“With a conducive business environment, more new business will be created and this would in turn provide the local community, Bidayuh especially, with more job opportunities,” he told Sarawak Tribune when met at his service centre here yesterday.

Earlier he was on a walkabout in Bau town to distribute Mandarin oranges and wish the local Chinese community a blessed 2019 Chinese New Year festival.

Henry said as it is, many Bidayuhs in Bau have also started venturing into business albeit on a small scale such as operating food stalls at coffeeshops owned by their Chinese counterparts apart from selling jungle produces at hawkers’ markets.

“With more developments and better basic infrastructures, more people will certainly come and visit Bau. This in turn will also help to transform Bau into not just a vibrant and lively town but also one full of opportunities,” he pointed out.

Henry also said as a people’s representative of the area, he would continue to plan and organise activities to attract more people to Bau.
