MUKAH: More than 1,300 vehicles were checked during Ops Tutup Lebih Muatan conducted by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) in this division from Oct 19 until Saturday (Oct 24).

It involved 28 personnel from Sarawak JPJ Enforcement Section and assisted by Mukah JPJ Enforcement Unit and from the Stapang Enforcement Station.

JPJ said in a statement on Saturday (Oct 24) the main focus of the operations was to detect offences committed by drivers and lorry operators carrying goods exceeding the limit.

It also targeted lorries carrying goods in dangerous conditions or its contents exceeding the height limit.

A total of 1,314 vehicles had been checked as of Friday at 11pm.

The department personnel were stationed at the main roads such as Jalan Balingian-Kuala Tatau, Jalan Selangau-Mateding, Jalan Dalat-Oya and also Jalan Matu-Igan.
