More than two thousand Sarawakians pursuing their tertiary education have received their RM300 air ticket subsidy, said Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman (GPS-Tupong).

He also said that the incentive of “Graduan Pulang Sarawak” was a pledge made by the chief minister during the “Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak” programme which was held at PWTC in Kuala Lumpur last year.

This was initiated after Sarawakians students voiced to the state government to help them in purchasing airline tickets to return to loved ones, especially during festive seasons, in which tickets could reach up to RM300 for a one-way trip.

Fazzrudin also added that the state government has also sought ways to help low-income students from rural areas that will be pursuing their tertiary education in terms of travel costs and other needs.
