SIBU: A motivational talk to bring the public out of negative thoughts and low self-values is scheduled to take place here on Oct 2.
The programme organised by the Lions Club International 308-A2 Region 2, Region 3, and district governor Kapitan Connie Loh will feature a speaker Goh Siok Boon who is known mainly in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
According to the organising chairperson, Louis Ting Hui Ling in a press conference on Friday the topic for the talk is ‘How to Achieve the Best Version of You’.
He said that Goh is a famous lecturer in Asia with 22 years of experience giving talks and normally costs more than RM50,000 to invite him to give a talk.
“So, I hope that everyone should catch this opportunity to participate in this talk which will be conducted in Mandarin.
“I hope that through this talk, more people can be inspired to understand the truth and apply it in the right direction and do the right thing.
“Also, this talk can encourage more people to actively participate in clubs and community services, and introduces the purpose, goals, and service projects of each organisation,” he said.
Ting also noted the ticket for the talk would be RM10 for students while RM30 for adults and they are expecting around 300 to 500 people to attend the event.
“All the tickets we sell will be used for charity after deduction of fees and cooperate with various organisations to participate in these charitable activities,” he said.
Ting also expressed his gratitude to the past district governor, Datuk Lawrence Ting, for arranging the speaker to provide free lectures and reimburse airfare expenses.
