SARIKEI: A 64-year-old man died on the spot in an accident involving two cars and a motorcycle at Jalan Bintangor-Sibu here yesterday (Oct 5).

Meradong police chief DSP Sekam Anoi said the accident happened at about 2.20 pm.

“The vehicles involved were a four-wheel drive (4WD), a taxi, and a motorcycle.

“The 4WD, which was heading from Sibu to Bintangor attempted to overtake another car by entering the opposite lane where the motorcyclist was.

“The 4WD crashed head-on with the motorcycle. Subsequently, the taxi driver swerved to avoid the collision and ended up in a ditch on the right side of the road,” he said.

Sekam said both the 4WD and taxi drivers escaped unhurt, while the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
