MIRI: An elderly man died after his motorcycle was hit by a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle at KM41 Jalan Miri-Bintulu here, Wednesday afternoon.
Baha Hamid, 60, from Kampung Kejapil, Bekenu, died at the scene due to a serious head and bodily injuries.
He was believed to be heading home from Kebuluh Agriculture Station when the accident occurred at 3.50pm.
Miri District Deputy Police chief, Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit when contacted confirmed the fatal incident.
“The accident was believed to have occurred when a Toyota Land Cruiser that was heading to the city centre from Batu Niah entered the opposite lane and collided head-on with the victim’s motorcycle,” he said, adding that the 57-year-old driver was not injured in the incident.
Stanley said the body of the deceased was taken to Miri Hospital for further action.
“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act, 1987,” he said.
