Motorcyclist succumbs to injuries at accident site

Over in Sibu a 33-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead by paramedics from Sibu Hospital at the scene of the accident after his bike collided with a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle driven by a woman.

The accident happened at Jalan Salim-Stabau at 7pm last Sunday, July 19.

Sibu deputy police chief, Supt Collin Babat, said the man was identified as Riccie Balin, from Rumah Joanesse, Pulau Wok Baru, KM2, Jalan Machan, Kanowit.

Riccie was on his way from Farley Supermarket to Durin Bridge via Jalan Salim-Stabau.

According to Collin, the motorcyclist was overtaking a vehicle when his bike collided with the 4WD vehicle coming from the opposite lane.

The woman driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to Sibu Hospital.

“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of Road Transport Act 1987,” said Collin.
