Motorist killed, four others injured in crash

SARATOK: A woman was killed while four other motorists were injured in a fatal collision involving two vehicles at Jalan Besar Pusa, near SJK Chung Hua Pusa today.

The State Fire and Rescue Operation Centre received a MERS999 emergency call regarding the accident at 1.09pm.

Firemen from Saratok station were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports that a victim was trapped inside a vehicle.

The operation commander reported that there were two vehicles involved – a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) and a sedan.

The vehicles were from opposite directions of the road and the crash caused the MPV to flip into a nearby ditch.

All surviving victims have been extricated from their damaged vehicles by passersby and were transported to Pusa Health Clinic using public vehicle.

According to the police, there were a family of three inside the sedan and a husband and wife in the MPV.

The dead woman, identified as Gelora Aman, 59, who was a passenger in the sedan car died while on the way to the health clinic to receive medical treatment. Her husband, who was driving the car, suffered serious injuries while their son sustained a broken leg.

Meanwhile, the pair in the MPV also suffered injuries to the legs and arms.

Firemen conducted cleaning and flushing of the accident scene to ensure the road is safe to use. The operation ended at 2.39pm.

An EMRS team together with ambulances were sent to the health clinic to pick up the surviving victims and transport them to Sarikei Hospital for further medical treatment.
