KUCHING: Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang was displeased with an allegation made by Batu Kitang DAP’s Abdul Aziz Isa on soil erosion at Kampung Semaba.

Aziz alleged that MPP was slow in responding to a complaint about erosion at Lorong 4 in the village.

“Aziz mentioned that the erosion was minor and that it was on private property. That is not the only complaint that we have,” said Lo.

He explained that MPP was addressing soil erosion along Jalan Semaba, which was a major problem compared to the one Aziz mentioned.

“We have other bigger issues to address. That is why I am unhappy with him. We have sent workers there to cover the eroded area with plastic sheets.

“We came here immediately to address the issue. Aziz did not check his facts properly. The council has 37 other areas that are prone to soil erosion.

“It is utterly unconscientious of Aziz to accuse MPP of not doing anything for an entire month after the landslide,” said Lo, who is also Batu Kitang assemblyman.

Aziz posted on his Facebook on March 23, accusing MPP of failing to take action on the soil erosion at Lorong 4, Kampung Semaba.

He stated that MPP’s services were lacking and sluggish because of bureaucracy.
