KUCHING: Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has instructed his lawyer Wilfred Yap to issue a letter of demand to Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen due to an article in a paper on April 1 regarding the Malaysia Agreement1963 (MA63) issue.

In a statement, Yap said it was reported that Chong, who is also the Stampin MP, had said of Wan Junaidi: “A fair comment to such an act from a person of his standing is that this is hypocrisy of the highest degree.”

“The allegations made by Chong are completely untrue and constituted a grave libel,” said Yap.

He said the letter of demand included unequivocally withdrawal of all the said words constituting the libel and to publish an apology in one English language newspaper, one Chinese language newspaper and one Bahasa Malaysia language newspaper; provide an undertaking not to publish hereafter the said or any similar allegations; and compensate Wan Junaidi for the serious injury to his reputation and feelings, “which he has suffered as a consequence of your said words.”
