KUCHING: Conveying a positive message through a song is a fantastic way to educate the masses while ensuring that they are well-entertained.

A musical theatre performance entitled “Semarak Pertiwiku” is being held for three nights starting from July 12, and tonight will be its final performance.

The musical is organised collaboratively by the State Ombudsman and Integrity Unit (Union) of the Chief Minister’s Department, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sarawak, and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas).

Its opening night was held on July 12 at the Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce Auditorium at the Teachers Training Institute (IPG) Batu Lintang Campus here.

The key objectives of “Semarak Pertiwiku” are to bring awareness to the public regarding issues of integrity and corruption, and to encourage values of integrity and patriotism within the community. These are in line with the government’s efforts to eradicate corruption.

One of the messages of the musical theatre performance is that corruption can arise in various forms. In addition, one’s identity and integrity have to be reinforced to prevent from falling prey to corruption.
