KUCHING: Delegation from the Malaysia-United States Ties (MUST) paid a courtesy call on Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas at his office at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here, yesterday.

The delegation of scholars and United States Congressional Staffers under the Malaysia-United States Ties visit programme (MUST-VP) arrived in Kuching on Monday for a three-day visit to Sarawak.

After visiting the Deputy Chief Minister yesterday, the group attended briefings by the State Planning Unit of Chief Minister’s Department, Natural Resources and Environment Board Sarawak and Kuching North City Hall and visited the Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV).

In the evening, the visitors attended a dinner hosted by the state government.

  Today, the delegation will depart for Bintulu to attend briefings conducted by the Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA), Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) and Murphy Oil and Gas Company before returning to Kuala Lumpur later in the evening.

The entourage comprises Don McDonald, Professional Staff Member, US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific;Jennifer Hendrixson-White, Professional Staff Member, US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee;Bryan Burack, Professional Staff Member, US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific; Olivia Enos, Research Associate, Asian Studies Center, The Heritage Foundation; Bruce Vaughn, Specialist in Asian Affairs, Congressional Research Service; Farlina Said, Analyst, ISIS Malaysia; Tengku Nur Qistina, Researcher, ISIS Malaysia; and Zainal Mokhtar, Conference Organiser, ISIS Malaysia.
