Needy family in Bawang Assan receives timely assistance

SIBU: Extending a helping hand to a struggling family across the river in Bawang Assan, the Sarawak government has taken proactive steps by dispatching an officer from the Welfare Department for an assessment visit today morning.

Guided by Councillor Kevin Lau Kor Jie, leading the Community Development Team of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Branch, the officer was accompanied to the family’s residence to understand their circumstances.

The female officer engaged with the family, evaluating their requirements, and elaborated on the government assistance they would be eligible to receive.This swift response mate

rialised a mere fortnight after the SUPP service team, under Lau’s leadership, facilitated the submission of the family’s aid application to the Welfare Department.

“The family’s primary breadwinner has been grappling with health issues, rendering them unable to earn a livelihood,” he said.He expressed gratitude for the Welfare Department’s prompt attention, stating, “Their compassionate approach is truly heartwarming for the family members. Our government unquestionably exhibits care and empathy, embodying a commitment to its citizens.”

Lau indicated that his team had uncovered the family’s plight during their door-to-door visits in Bawang Assan, revealing, “The family was in dire need and lacked guidance on how to access government aid.”

While awaiting the Welfare Department’s official assistance, Lau’s team provided a donation to the family.
