KUCHING: The State Health Department has identified one new cluster in Kuching district named Jalan Simpang Tiga Cluster.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said that the said cluster is a workplace cluster involving a shopping mall in Kenyalang Park.

“A total of 44 people were screened where 14 of them were found positive including the index while 30 others were negative. So far, the detection of the cases linked to this cluster is still ongoing.

“All of the positive cases were referred to Sarawak General Hospital and were admitted to quarantine and low-risk treatment centre (PKRC) Kuching for isolation and further treatment,” it added.

Meanwhile, the committee had also declared the end of four clusters which are the Bulatan Aman Cluster in Sibu; two clusters in Kuching namely the Kampung Binyu Cluster and Jalan Puncak Borneo Cluster and Jalan Bintulu-Tatau Cluster in Tatau today.

“With the addition of today’s cluster and the end of four clusters, currently, the state has 80 active clusters with 11 of them having recorded 51 additional cases whilst 69 others had recorded zero additional number of cases,” it said.
