KUCHING: A new school is urgently needed to replace SMK Sebuyau due to its extremely deteriorated condition, according to Sebuyau assemblyman Datuk Julaihi Narawi.

Julaihi said, currently, SMK Sebuyau is the only secondary school in the Sebuyau area, accommodating nearly a thousand students from Form One to Form Five.

According to him, despite the approval for a full replacement school during the Eleventh Malaysia Plan (RMK11), along with the allocation of a new site in the new town of Sebuyau by the Sarawak government, the Ministry of Education (MOE) has not yet started its construction.

In light of this, the assemblyman has called for immediate action to expedite the construction of the replacement school.

He said this in a recent Facebook post, following a courtesy visit by the Majlis Guru Besar Zon Sebangan at his office recently.

The visit was led by Cikgu Rashid Zohari, the headmaster of SK Sg Ladong, accompanied by nine other primary school headmasters in the Sebangan zone, namely SK Seruyuk, SK Segali, SK Tungkah Dayak, SK Hj Bujang Sebangan, SK Tungkah Melayu, SBJK Chung Hua Sebangan, SK Arus Dayak, SK Skitong, and SK Rajau Ensika.
