New entrance road to longhouses, school to be built in Bintangor

BINTANGOR: A total of RM280,000 from the rural transformation Programme (RTP) fund of the Semop state constituency has been allocated to build a new entrance road to Rumah Bisa, Rumah Bennet, and Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Sian Bintangor.
 
A symbolic handing over ceremony of the project site was officiated by the assistant engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) Sarikei Division Siti Anastasya Saili, and witnessed by the Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Office (Corporate Affairs, Information, and Sarawak Public Communications Unit) Datuk Abdullah Saidol, yesterday (April 6).
 
Meanwhile, Abdullah Saidol, who is also the Semop assemblyman, together with officials from the Meradong-Julau District Council and nearby village chiefs, held discussions on proposals to build signboards at every settlement in the Sungai Sian and Nangga Bangkit/Selidap areas.
 
He then joined the Teachers’ Training Institute (IPG) Rajang Campus community in distributing bubur lambuk to the public at the Bintangor Ferry Terminal, which was also attended by IPG Rajang Campus director Dr Ismail Abg Julhi.
 
During the programme, Abdullah had the opportunity to meet and interact with traders at the Bintangor Ramadan Bazaar.
 
Several sellers from the Gerai Niaga Tebingan Bintangor also took the opportunity to request their stalls be upgraded.
 
Also present were Meradong acting district officer Thomas Geoffrey Kendawang, Meradong-Julau District Council civil engineer Nur Hazirah Sadong, Pemanca Rapen Angga, Penghulu Hashim Abg Solhi, Penghulu Abas Banyi, Councillor Michael Asin, as well as community leaders Bisa Melintang and Bennet Abul.
