MUKAH: The newly constructed  landmark  of  Kampung Kuala Lama, here, was officially  launched yesterday morning by an administrative officer from Mukah Resident Office, Siti  Hazerah bt  Bolhi.

The launching ceremony was held in conjunction with the 2017 Mukah Division Desa Perdana Award Judging Event held at the community hall of the village.

The auspicious occasion commenced with the arrival of the guest of honour and the award panel judges  at about 8.30am.

Upon arrival at the venue, Dewan Seri Pekala, the VIPs were   welcomed with a silat demonstration by  young silat exponents.

After the cutting of the ribbon to officiate the landmark  of  “Kuala Lama’”,  a drum called the “Beduk” was beaten  to welcome the delegation.

This was followed by the event proper which kicked off with the singing of the national and state anthems and   prayers.

Other activities held included a briefing on the village’s development, a symbolic launching of the logo of Kpg Kuala Lama Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), a Corporate Video Show, a lucky draw and photography session.

Also present at the function were Mukah District Information Officer, Muhammad Alwi, Chief Judge,  Jack Aman Luat,  Mukah Special Affairs Department Officer, Hafizul Abdul Halim, Mukah District MARA Officer, Awang Hijan B Awang Kadir and Kpg Kuala Lama Village Chief, Mohamad Asrar B Nani.
