SIBU: A morning fire destroyed 50 percent of a salon at Jalan Mahsuri here yesterday. However, no casualties were reported.
According to a statement from the state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre, 16 personnel from Sibu Fire and Rescue Station and eight personnel from Sungai Merah Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene after they received a distress call at 6.30am. When they arrived,
they found thick smoke rising from the ground floor of the salon. They, however, immediately made a fire break to prevent the fire from spreading to the upper floor and other shops in the vicinity.
The operation ended at 7.09am. The cause of the fire and total loss incurred are being investigated.
