KUCHING: Hope Place Kuching visited an elderly woman at her dilapidated old house yesterday (Jan 31) to check on her and show the woman who lives by herself their love.

Describing it as a humbling experience, the charitable non-governmental organisation (NGO). said the 76-year-old woman was initially very reluctant to open the door to the team as she did not know who they were.

“The elderly lady told us that she is all alone in this world with only her beloved house and memories surrounding her home.

“She lives in a very old run-down house with a leaking roof, no electricity and broken windows. However, she treasures the house very much as it is the only inheritance from her late parents.

“Despite the sad condition of her home, she said the house still holds many happy memories,” the NGO said in a statement.

Hope Place Kuching disclosed that church members usually cook and bring food to the elderly woman.
