KUCHING: Aidilfitri cheer came early for around 80 children from Lembaga Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Sarawak (PERYATIM) when Yayasan Farley treated them to a ‘baju raya’ shopping spree in conjunction with its Kasih Ramadan programme.

Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah lauded the foundation’s gesture to help the needy.

“We know that the current cost of living is increasing and it impacts the poor group in our society, including the urban poor.

“Assistance from corporate bodies like Farley and capable individuals is needed to help those who are disadvantaged and needy in our community.

“The ministry looks forward to Farley doing more charitable works which will contribute to the community wellbeing,” she said when officiating at the programme at Farley Kuching yesterday (April 2).

Apart from giving back to the community, Fatimah said the foundation is also involved in helping the poor in terms of education and stressed Sarawak’s government commitment to ensure that no one is left behind in getting an education.

“We want to make sure that each child, including those from the vulnerable groups, will receive education because through education, we can improve a person’s socio-economic status and achieve a better future,” she added.

Meanwhile, Yayasan Farley president Eijing Lau said the foundation is always focused on the development and wellbeing of the community within its ecosystem.

“Yayasan Farley has been committed to giving back to our community since its establishment in 2021.

“We strive to give our highest support to the initiatives and movements that are beneficial to the community,” added Lau.
