KANOWIT: Two non-governmental organisations (NGOs) here extended help to fire victims at Rumah Michael longhouse, Sungai Sejugam Lasi, Julau, recently.
The food basket donation was contributed by Terabai Menua Sibu Welfare Association and Tunjang Masyarakat Sarawak Welfare Association.
Terabai Menua Welfare Association chairman, Thomas Lobo, said that the donations are part of their organisation’s commitment to easing the hardship faced by the affected longhouse residents.
“We also extend our heartfelt words of encouragement and moral support to both the longhouse chief and its residents,” he said in a statement yesterday.
On Sept 28, the double-storey wooden longhouse was devastated by fire, leaving 189 victims displaced and causing significant losses.
