SIBU: The Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) and Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) ‘marriage’ will not trigger a by-election.

PDP president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said that the move would be planned and processed in accordance with existing law.

“We will not trigger a by-election, and we will not violate the Anti-Hopping Law,” he told reporters during his Chinese New Year visit to the residence of PSB president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh here today (Feb 12).

Meanwhile, when asked about the process required to ensure compliance with the Anti-Hopping Law, Tiong declined to provide further details.

“We will finalise everything first. Once it is resolved, then we will make an announcement. This is akin to marriage. After we tie the knot, then we will inform the others,” he added.

Previously, at the PDP Chinese New Year gathering, PDP deputy president Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said that the decision to merge PDP and PSB would be considered after the Chinese New Year.
