No escape for two burglars

Police seize the stolen items from the break-in cases as one of the suspects is in handcuff.

KUCHING: Two burglars were finally apprehended by police in relation to two break-in cases, namely one in June and the recent case this month.

The Kuching district police on last Wednesday (July 13) arrested the duo aged 23 and 25 for the house breaking cases that took place in Stutong area.

According to local police chief ACP Ashmon Bajah, both suspects have outstanding criminal records, and both were tested positive for drugs.

“The 25-year-old suspect has 14 outstanding records while the 23-year-old suspect has 16, including drugs and various criminal offences.

“The police also found that both were tested positive for drugs through urine tests. Laptops, food grinder machine and a water filter machine were seized, which are items that were stolen from two break-in cases,” said Ashmon in a press statement.

Both the suspects are being remanded for seven days starting from July 15 until July 21 at the district police lockup.  The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code.

A pack of cigarettes, alcoholic beverages and a sum of cash have been seized from the suspect related to a robbery case at a 24-hour store in Tabuan Jaya area.

In a separate case, the district police also made an arrest of one suspect in a robbery case at a 24-hour store in Tabuan Jaya area.

“The 26-year-old suspect was arrested within the period of 24 hours on July 14 at 2.15pm. He has two prior records but was tested negative for drugs.

“A pack of cigarettes, alcoholic beverages and a sum of cash were seized from the suspect, all of which are suspected to be the stolen items from stores on July 13 and on June 16,” stated the local police chief.

With the successful arrests, the police are able to closed three robbery cases which involved 24-hour stores in Kuching and Samarahan areas.

He said the latest suspect is being remanded for six days until July 21 and the case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code.
