KUCHING: There is nothing sinister about the early voting by military personnel which began on Nov 7, said Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

The caretaker de facto Law Minister was responding to the allegation by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that there were military personnel, particularly in P090 Bera constituency, who cast their votes for the general election (GE15).

“As I was informed by Armed Forces chief Jen Tan Sri Affendi Buang, the process for postal voting for military personnel began on Nov 7,” he said in a statement.

Wan Junaidi added that the candidate’s agent had been informed by the Returning Officer (RO) on the date the postal ballot was issued.

“It all depends on the registered individual who received the postal ballot paper.

“The most important thing is the postal ballot papers must reach the Returning Officer’s office before 5 pm on Nov 19,” he added.
