No positive cases at Miri Hospital

KUCHING: The Health Department has confirmed that there are no positive Covid-19 cases at Miri Hospital.

Director Dr Chin Zin Hing said in a statement yesterday that as of Feb 16, Miri Hospital had received 16 Patient Under Investigation (PUI) cases.

“The figure comprises 14 Malaysians, one Chinese national and one Canadian.

“Of these, 14 cases were negative following laboratory tests, while two others are still pending.

“Ten patients have been allowed to return home (discharged) after being found healthy and laboratory results for the second test were negative,” he said.

Despite this, the public have been advised to practise high levels of hygiene such as washing their hands with soap and water.

They have also been advised to seek treatment immediately if they have a fever, or have breathing difficulties within 14 days after returning from a visit to China.

They must inform the attending physician of their travel history as well.

All medical practitioners, government or private, must immediately report suspected cases of Covid-19 to the nearest state or district health office, or to the Crisis Prevention and Emergency Centre, Sarawak Health Department at 082-443 248 or email cprc_sarawak@moh.gov.my
