KUCHING: Jalur Gemilang (national flags) were waved while the patriotic song “Jalur Gemilang” was sung at the Merdeka@Komuniti programme at Kampung Lidah Tanah Community Hall on Sunday (Sept 6).
Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang officiated at the event organised by the Information Department.
Among those present were the deputy director of the department, Aziz Abdul Rahman and Lidah Tanah Ketua Kampung, Hamzah Bujang.
Aziz explained that the aim of the programme was to nurture the spirit of patriotism and love for the country during the National Month.
“Besides that, this programme is also an engagement session between the Information Department with the public to share news on government policies, initiatives and achievements,” he said.
“We have been to many places such as longhouses and the rural areas to spread messages about patriotism and share information on the recovery movement control order (RMCO),” he added.
Aziz revealed that the department had also come out with several digital or online programmes such as Pidato Kenegaraan, Pengisahan Kenegaraan, Sayembara Puisi Merdeka, Sayembara Menulis Cerpen Merdeka, Klik@Merdeka and Smule Bintang Patriotik.
