One dead, two injured in bike crash

The scene of the fatal collision that claimed the life of a motorcyclist and severely injured another rider.

PADAWAN: A fatal collision between two motorcycles along Jalan Puncak Borneo has claimed the life of a rider and severely injured another last night (Mar 3).

Padawan police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad confirmed that the accident, involving a Suzuki Rider and a Yamaha Lagenda, occurred around 8.45 pm.

The collision happened when both motorcycles were moving in opposite directions and an unknown vehicle overtook one of the motorcycles, causing the other to swerve into the opposite lane.

“As a result, both motorcycles collided as they could not avoid each other.

“Paramedics confirmed that the Suzuki rider identified as Dayron Clip, 20, died at the scene.

“His body was taken to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for a postmortem,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Yamaha rider, an 18-year-old boy, sustained a broken right arm, and the Suzuki pillion rider, a 19-year-old boy, sustained minor injuries on the hands and legs.

Abang Zainal said both injured victims were taken to Serian Hospital for further treatment.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
