A One-Stop Early Intervention Centre will be set up at Metrocity, Matang to provide inclusive education to children with special needs.

Welfare, Community Well-Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the centre would be operational by January next year.

It would be managed by the Society for Parents of Children with Special Needs (Pibakat) and it will be operational by January 2020.

The centre, she added, would serve to provide services such as diagnosis, intervention, and rehabilitation to children with autism, down-syndrome and learning difficulties from seven years and below.

Fatimah also said that five Penan Community Kindergartens would be built to increase access to early childhood education, especially in the interior areas.

The kindergartens would be built in Long Leng, Long Kawa, Long Kerangan, Long Jenalong and Ba Selulon through the Petronas corporate social responsibily (CSR) programme.

They would be managed by SeDidik Sdn Bhd and would begin operation in 2020.
